The Gilgit-Baltistan Council (GBC) was established under Article 33 of the Gilgit-Baltistan (Empowerment and Self Governance) Order, 2009 under the Chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan promulgated the Government of Gilgit Baltistan Order, 2018, which is existing legal framework for governing the region of Gilgit Baltistan.
